Tue, February 14, 2006 - 9:40 AMMake that THREE WEEKS IN A ROW for the Ambivalent Assassins. I am actively seeking teammates to form an insurgency. -

Re: PUB QUIZ! - Mondays at 7:30
Mon, March 13, 2006 - 12:39 PMNews from last week:
A surprise upset came at us from a new pick-up team, the Bottom Dwellers, who rocked everyone's socks off. Thee Regulars, the Cunning Linguists, and Polar Bear all gave dignified performances as well, and a couple of additional accidental drop-in teams brought up the rear. Quote of the evening: "DEFENDER!"
There was only a twelve point spread between the top four teams, so competition is heating up, especially with the probably return of the Ambivalent Assassins tonight, who were a no-show last week due to holiday travel and identity crisis.
Tonight! We have six categories running the gamut of random and meaningless wordly knowledge. Pop in and justify your own overblown sense of intellectual pride! -

Re: PUB QUIZ! - Mondays at 7:30
Mon, March 20, 2006 - 10:21 AMNews from last week:
Appropriately named team Thee Regulars, scrambling up from an "always a bridesmaid, never a bride" position, finally caught the bouquet and won first place last week, while the Ambivalent Assassins and the Bottom Dwellers broke off a couple of Lee press-on nails smearing cake into each others hair, coming up a mere one and two points behind the winners. Solid performance was seen from the other three teams as well, who shrugged off the entire donnybrook and merely watched from the wine bar.
Expect a lot of torn taffeta and crushed corsages on the reception floor tonight! -

Re: PUB QUIZ! - Mondays at 7:30
Mon, March 27, 2006 - 11:01 AMMonday again!
Last week, in a quiz that saw a paltry ten points difference between first and last place, we had a photo-finish between two new teams: the inaccurately named Third Place and the Neuticles. For lack of an appropriate tie-breaking question popping to mind, it was settled the old-fashioned way with a soju-stella pint depth-charge pound-off (a full-scale boat race would have bankrupted the place.) The representative of Third Place slammed her empty to the bar mere moments too late, giving the laurels and drink tickets to Team Neuticles.
Tonight audio and picture categories will be provided by demon dave, and I have five additional categories designed to further "separate the As from the Bs." We'll hit question #500 of the series some time around category three or four, so come test your mettle and have some fun! Starts around 7:30 at the old same place. -

Re: PUB QUIZ! - Mondays at 7:30
Mon, April 3, 2006 - 10:39 AMWeekly update:
Last week's questions ran the gamut from board game identification to uppity women and nerds in history. Six strong tems competed: team QED (reformulated from survivors of the Ambivalent Assassins) coming in with a narrow win, followed closely by the Rockem Sockem Robots and Uncle Fucker's Chuckle Hut trailing by two and three points respectively., only losing the tie for lead in the audio round. You know that's gotta hurt.
Tonight we have four categories coming from special guest interrogators Nick and Katy, and the balance of categories will be provided as per tradition by Demon Dave himself. Good craik! Starts at 7:30 as usual, and we're mulling over the idea of pushing the maximum humans per team up to five instead of four, so position your ringers now!

Re: PUB QUIZ! - Mondays at 7:30
Mon, February 27, 2006 - 9:42 AMReminder! Tonight! What better solution the weather than keeping warm and dry with a cold wet beer?
Beer! Trivia! Trivia about beer!
In addition to the usual litany of verbal questions, there will be two (two!) visual categories, and possibly an audio category if I can get my ducks in a row. One category will give either a benefit or a troubling sense of deja vu to prior attendees. Wink, wink.
Take note that due to an out-of-town holiday, the Ambivalent Assassins are at a disadvantage tonight and REALLY itching for a beatdown. -

Re: PUB QUIZ! - Mondays at 7:30
Mon, March 6, 2006 - 2:14 PMYou guys let me down, man. Ambivalent Assassins picked up a fourth last week, and gosh are they getting cocky.
BUT tonight I hear rumor that one of their anchors may be showing up late if at all, and one is still in the Philippines, so a dogpile is very possible. History in the making!
Seven categories tonight! That... more than usual! omg! -

Re: PUB QUIZ! - Mondays at 7:30
Mon, May 1, 2006 - 1:13 PMWell, I'll spare you any update about last week's quiz; suffice to say the only question that got asked was "where in the hell is everyone?" Dave thought he was in some weird American Sean of the Dead crossover. So this week we hope to put that stockpile of questions to good use!
Come take a break with a cold one, good fun! Soju shots on special as always. -

Re: PUB QUIZ! - Mondays at 7:30
Mon, May 8, 2006 - 12:36 PMHi friends!
So last week, the world's most intimate pub quiz lived up to it's moniker: attendance was modest so we had everyone break up into teams of two (rarrwr!), and good fun was had by all. The heroic Tag Team even attempted to play by trading off rounds, but eventually more quotidian duties beat them down: other contenders were Two thieves, Captain Stinky Feet, and team For Shits and Giggles, who all scored well but were ultimately bested by team Zesty Enterprise (Lancemeister Fullerine and the Mysterious Korry) who went home carrying the laurels as well as a fistful of drink tickets each.
Tonight we have a strong mix of potpourri and specific subject categories sure to please one and all: we're hoping for a good invigorating turnout this time, so try to bring a friend or two along and let's kick it up a notch (bam.) Ot turn this mother out, whichever idiom suits your fancy.
Picture round starts at 7:30, max team 5 humans, happy hour in effect until 8 (right?) and soju drinks on special all night!
Cheers and see you then,
J
